Recently Read Books
Now reading: IFSTA essentials and "The Tontine".
Ann Rule's "Too Late to Say Goodbye" and "Crime Files number 11". Chilling, because it's true.
"Labyrinth" by Diane Stevens. A gothic romance set in the late 20th century.
"An Obsession With Honor" -- If I wrote, and wrote historical romance, this is how I'd like it to turn out.
"The Devil Wears Prada" -- As usual, the book is better than the movie.
Catherine Coulter's old viking series of romances: "Lord of Hawkfell Island", "Lord of Ravens Peak", "Lord of Falcon Ridge", and "Season of the Sun". The first two are the best.
"The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. Finally, a vampire novel that doesn't turn the moster into and object of desire!
"Swimming in the Volcano" by Bob Shacochis. Herman Melville meets John Updike.
"An Eighth of August" by Dawn Turner Trice. This is a treasure. A story of tragedy and community, richly told.
"Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill. Scary, weird, well written, and at the root of it, partly Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde.
"Windy City Blues" by Sara Paretsky. This is a neat anthology of VI Warshawski short stories.
